Gareth K. Dailey

I'm an aspiring technical writer that is currently working as a systems administrator for the City of Waterville. I am one of a two person team doing help desk support, network maintenance, server upkeep, etc... if you were to say we wear many hats, that would be an understatement.

Hopefully my site will give you some insight into who I am and why you might want to work with me going forward. I may not be the most experienced in the field I'm hoping to go into, but wherever I go and whatever I do, I achieve excellence.

Why should I hire you?

I appreciate the question... I've had plenty of people want to hire me, but the feeling wasn't mutual. I'd be happy to hear the offer, but it has to be mutual utility... If you're interested in me as a person and associate, and not simply a list of criteria to fit the job description of "cog #c498//b/alpha," I think we will get along better.

Okay, better question... Why should we work together?

I'm glad you asked! When I commit, I put my heart and soul into all facets of the task - this is why I like to be absolutely sure I want to commit and don't take the first offer that comes by. Dedication, adaptability, and the wisdom to know what knowledge I lack... those are my three best characteristics.

My favorite quote is that from Einstein: The more I learn, the more I realize how much I don't yet know.

Anyone can play-act arrogant. Honesty and being forthright while striving to learn more is the core of who I am. If that sounds like someone you want to work with, then by all means please reach out.

Small Highlights, Small Victories

I was proud to find the time and energy to earn certifications while working such a busy job with the city. With my personal circumstances, earning both has been a journey...but the difficulty has not stopped me from trying to add a third to my list.

Also featured is my CJIS certificate. While not laborious to earn, it was a highlight to me because I am entrusted with access to sensitive information at my job and I'm honored by that.

My homebuilt computer is pictured, which should give you some insight into what I like to do in my free time.

Also featured is a 3D printed mothers day gift that I put together and gave to her as a proof of concept on what 3D printed parts look like - they run a small business making bass guitar thumbrests, and I wanted to see if they would approve of 3D printing some to save money.

Also pictured is some solder work I did on my ice maker to repair it - I had to identify the model switch that had failed due to being worn out, clip one prong off of it, and solder the proper connections back. Not extremely complicated, nor is the flow work super good, but I hope it shows my determination in finishing a task.
